Primary Research by Instructors of Writing Program CoursesPlease share with us or ask questions about primary research you have conducted, plan to conduct, or are conducting.
Spring 2008 IRB Research ProtocolsInstitutional Review Board (IRB) approval is required for all university-related research involving human subjects that might be published in any way. The Writing Program has requested permission from the university to conduct two kinds of primary research: 1) primary research conducted by students as part of their course requirements and 2) primary research conducted by instructors as part of their professional research programs. Permission for spring 2008 was granted on 1/25/08. Following are the two protocols that help both you and your students conduct primary research.
PDE # 4 Portfolio GradingFor our last PDE of the semester, we will gather together to examine a portfolio in its entirety (see attached below). Time: Thursday 12/7 11:00 am to 12 noon We believe this discussion will help make the portfolio grading a more effective, efficient, and (dare we say) pleasant experience for all of us, and particularly the new instructors among us. The Writing Program also invites you to a lunch after the discussion. We look forward to seeing you there.
